What do I do if a player drops after round 1 has been drawn?
You’ve got a few options here.
The easiest option (although not the most popular one) is to wait until the morning of the event when you can confirm everyone has arrived before doing the draw.
Ther next option is to reset the round, remove the player from the ‘Registered Players’ tab and then re-draw the round. The downside to this is if you’ve done the round 1 pairing ahead of time and people have been preparing for their matchups which will now be completely randomised.
Alternatively, you can use the manual pairing option to pair the dropped player into your bye-buster and then remove them after you have finalised round 1, but before you draw round 2.
The last option is to give their opponent the equivalent of a bye (or opponent conceding) resulting in full points, and use your amazing people skills to keep them entertained until round 2. Remember to remove the dropped player before drawing round 2.
You’ll know if a player has been removed from the event after it has started, because their name is greyed-out and has a line through it. They will however remain on the ladder.
What do I do if a player drops part way through a tournament?
You can use the manual pairing option to pair the dropped player into your bye-buster and then remove them after you have finalised the round, but before you draw the next round.
Or you can give their opponent the equivalent of a bye (or opponent conceding) resulting in full points, and use your amazing people skills to keep them entertained until the next round. Remember to remove the dropped player before drawing the next round.
Note: Removing a player once a tournament has started will not delete them from the registered players list. Instead, it will remove them from being paired in subsequent rounds. We do this to preserve the strength of schedule score for players who played against a person who later dropped from the event.
What do I do if I need to add or deduct points from a player?
The system has a score adjustment feature that you can access from the ladder, or by clicking on edit in the registered players tab.
This feature asks you to either add points (just enter the number) or deduct points (enter a negative number) which will impact their overall tournament points. It will also ask you to enter a reason for the adjustment which will be seen on the points calculation popup on the ladder screen.
What do I do if players are saying that the scoring isn’t working?
The first thing you should do is go and check the settings for the tournament. Do this by clicking on ‘Edit’ instead of ‘View’ from the home screen. Ensure you are logged in with the same account you assigned to be the TO for the event.
Check what option you have set for the primary scoring system. Stats & Ladders will always use Wins as the first way of sorting the ladder regardless of the scoring systems you choose. When you select the primary scoring model of W/D/L, what you are actually choosing is to allocate points based on the result of the game. The same is true if you have selected Majors/Minors.
Sometimes when setting up events you want to use Differential as the primary scoring method, but you may think you need to allocate W/D/L to ensure wins get counted when generating the ladder. This is not the case as mentioned above. Simply choose Differential as your primary scoring method as wins/losses is the default method used to manage ladder position and does not need to be selected.
If everything is set up as you intend and the scoring is still giving you an unexpected result you should immediately contact us via email at support@statsandladders.com and we can log in and try and resolve or explain what is happening and help you to make the necessary adjustments to get the scoring to work the way you intended.
Note: We are based in Australia so please be aware of the time difference if you are trying to contact us from overseas. We cannot guarantee our immediate availability, but we monitor the email account from 6am to 9pm AEDT.
One final tip is to test out the scoring before your tournament begins. You can test out the pairings and scores once there are at least 2 registered players. Once you’ve had a chance to confirm it’s working the way you intend there is a ‘Reset Tournament’ button which will remove all pairings and results but keep you registered players intact.
What do I do if I want to see who scored the highest sports or hobby scores at the end of the tournament?
At the end of the tournament, you can sort the ladder by different columns by clicking on the sort icon at the top of each column. By default, it is sorted by total tournament points, but you can also sort it by favourite opponent or coolest army votes.
What do I do if the event has finished but people can’t see the results?
Once the final round of the event has been drawn the ladder is locked so players aren’t able to see the final standings. After you have finished your presentations, you can click on the ‘Publish Results’ button on the ladder screen and it will make the results available to players and the public.
What do I do if I have an odd number of players at my event? (Do I need to add a fake player to be the bye-buster?)
No, the system will automatically add a bye-buster (aka ‘Gumby’) if your event has an odd number of players. After round 1 it will always pair the lowest ranked person on the ladder (excluding removed players) who has not previously played against the bye-buster.
What do I do if I want to test out the system before my event?
You can test out the pairings and scores once there are at least 2 registered players. Once you’ve had a chance to confirm it’s working the way you intend there is a ‘Reset Tournament’ button which will remove all pairings and results but keep you registered players intact.
What do I do if clubmates have been paired up in round 1 (and they weren’t supposed to)?
You can use the manual pairing option to switch opponents.
Once you swap a player the system will automatically adjust the affected pairings.
What do I do if someone shows up on the day who hasn’t registered and they can’t add themselves?
There are a couple of steps to making this happen:
-
First you need to click on ‘Edit’ from the home screen to modify your tournament settings.
-
Then you need to untoggled the ‘Publish Lists’ toggle.
-
Then, adjust the date and time that your event starts by pushing it to a couple of hours later.
-
After that you should be able to add the player one of two ways. Either by inviting them using their email address or having them add themselves from the home screen after logging in. This assumes they already have a Stats & Ladders account. If they don’t already have an account they will need to register, and check their email to confirm their email address and validate the account.
Note: Inviting someone using their email address will send them an email asking them to sign up if they don’t already have an account so it’s a pretty good option regardless of their account status. -
Change the start time back to what it was before.
-
Toggle on ‘Publish Lists’.
What do I do if anything unexpected happens and the system isn’t displaying the correct information or working as expected?
-
Check that you are connected to the internet. This system is a live website and requires an uninterrupted internet connection.
-
Refresh the page. Sometimes the system needs to reload to display the latest scores/results.
-
Log out and log back in. It’s the online equivalent of turning it off and back on again.
-

What do I do if someone’s list needs changing after the lists have been published?
You can make the adjustment by clicking on the edit icon in the registered players tab. Then set the status to ‘Approved’.
What do I do if players have recorded an incorrect result?
If this happens before the round has been finalised you can simply enter a new result. Easy fix!
If you only find out about it after the round has been finalised there will unfortunately be issues with pairings, especially if the result of the W/L was back-to-front. You can contact us at support@statsandladders.com and we can try and fix it on the back end if we are available, but there is no guarantee we will be able to make that change for you in a timely fashion. For this reason, it is extremely important for both players to check the result is correct before the end of the round.
If it’s just a matter of the points you can make the necessary adjustments to both player’s tournament points score using the score adjustment option from the ladder screen.
What do I do if a player can’t submit their list (They keep getting an error)?
This is usually caused by the formatting of the text as it is pasted into the editor. We are implementing a fix for this that removes that formatting, however if you are still getting errors there are a couple of options you can try:
-
Paste your list into a plain text editor like notepad (if you are on a computer), then copy it from there and paste it into the list submission window on Stats & Ladders.
-
After pasting your list you can select all of the text and press the ‘remove formatting’ button in the test editor toolbar. It looks like a ‘T’ with a little ‘x’ next to it.
-
Try sending the list to the TO (or even to us) and we can add it in on their behalf.
What do I do if the system seems slow or unresponsive?
-
Check that you are connected to the internet. This system is a live website and requires an uninterrupted internet connection.
-
Refresh the page. Sometimes the system needs to reload to display the latest scores/results.
-
Log out and log back in. It’s the online equivalent of turning it off and back on again.
-
Try using a different browser to access the system.
